Sleep is a journey through time. Second upon second, minute after minute…hours that might otherwise drag upon hour, are condensed into a blissful state of being we call sleep.

Imagine the tedious nature of trying to lie still long enough to restore major muscle groups…slowing your breath rate and heart rate consciously… imagine the boredom of just lying there while your physical body restores itself! Sleep is a wonderful gift.
Nature's Rest products are dedicated to contributing to this fascinating journey…to helping us each find the deep natural sleep that becomes the Rest that Nature intends.

Comfort is the key…pressure values vary in defining comfort for each of us. Pressure builds over time…if we can evaluate the areas most likely to be sensitive to pressure build up, we can adjust the sleep surface and sleeping positions to maximize our comfort.
Nature's Rest P.M. - Pressure Maps the entire body on any sleep surface. Images in 3D, two dimensions and important graphs of pressure vs time as well as pressure distribution help complete the picture of "comfort" that enables us to build some of the world's best bedding.

Because our NR PM equipment operates like a VCR, recording the body at rest, we can playback, freeze, rewind and otherwise develop a detailed understanding of comfort values during sleep. Our goal is to clarify the relationship between pressure and support, softness and comfort. A typical experiment / demonstration follows:

STEP 1:

The Nature's Rest PM sensor blanket is placed upon the floor. Our subject is asked lay on the blanket and provides our first pressure reading. Red colors are high pressure, white illustrates a lack of contact or absence of support.

Note the lower back area is completely unsupported and pressure points at the shoulders and hips are acute.

STEP 2:

Next we add a layer of NatureZone 3 latex. Specifically formulated to soften the shoulder area and add support to the hips, this simple two inch foam layer over the floor is supplying incredible improvement to the body. Imagine what the complete sleep system can do.

STEP 3:

Finally we move the blanket to the Nature's Rest sleep system. Combinations of quilted fibers to luxurious fabrics improve the immediate contact points to the body. Subtle layer variations in the density and type of latex used begin to minimize pressure and maximize support. Deep natural sleep is the rest that nature intends…creating formulas for comfort success that enhance this deep level of sleep are what we do best.

Solid back support and complete contact with the neck area; pressure zones are calibrated to reveal areas of highest pressure as orange or dark red…clearly this is pressure free sleeping comfort here.

There are a number of fine quality sleep systems in the world today that do a superlative job of balancing the comfort and support needed to optimize your body's restoration cycle. Most of these sleep products do in fact cost a little more because they contain the ingredients needed to attain the proper balance that is most effective. Nature's Rest spends a great deal of time, money and energy to insure that our products will always be counted among the very best sleep sets in the world.

WHAT A DIFFERENCE Our Latex PILLOWS MAKE!

Pillows are a big part of overall sleep comfort, and at Nature's Rest we are definitely tuned in to all things comfort related to sleeping. The images below, captured with our Nature's Rest PM pressure mapping computers illustrate shoulder comfort with and without a good quality pillow.

We utilized an extra firm hotel mattress during these test to better illustrate the shoulder, head and neck pressure that can be dominating during the night on the wrong mattress. Our own mattresses don't put such extreme pressure on the shoulders…each Nature's Rest mattress has softer zones for the shoulder area.
NO PILLOW…note shoulder zone, elbow, and hips areas. Extreme pressure appears as deep red colors and represents capillary blood flow shut off. This hotel quality mattress is an extra firm inner spring unit with tight top quilt and padding.

NATURE'S REST LatexCore Pillow…Notice the relief in shoulder pressure. The head and neck rest comfortably on the perfect loft offered by this unique combination of latex and fiber. The Latex center core insures support and continual comfort for hours and hours of deep restorative sleep.

NATURAL COMFORT POSITIONS…What's yours?

Sometimes a discovery comes along that is such a "no-brainer" that it seems like no discovery at all…rather in this case it is more like a new realization. Because of our unique Nature's Rest PM pressure mapping computers we have found a logical sequence of events in sleeping that may help a great deal in the process of selecting the right comfort choice in a new mattress. We call this the NCP or Natural Comfort Position.

When asked to lie down and try a sleep set, the tendency is to lie flat on the back and stare at the ceiling…often wondering, okay…now what? (How much is it? Will I still respect this bed in the morning???) So we roll onto a side and try that…hopefully a pillow is handy…if not, uh, then what?

In our unending research into comfort we asked countless subjects to try various positions and finally said to each, "Okay…now just get comfortable…try any position you like and pretend it's lights out and you're ready for dreamland!" In every case we found a few surprising developments.
    1. Sleeping on the back usually produces less pressure but rarely is the position of choice for getting to sleep.
    2. Curling up on your side is the most preferred, but both sides are NOT equal.
    3. Everyone has a unique NCP that optimizes comfort and brings on sleep faster.
This image labeled Picture E shows a subject on an ordinary hotel quality bed…fairly firm by most standards. The side laying position has accentuated pressure areas in the hips especially. We had the subject go to his NCP, his opposite side…slight leg adjustment…and voila! What a difference in pressure! Be sure you have the opportunity to try the beds you shop for in your own NCP…it does make a difference! It does make a difference.
